Lilyana Pavlova: Behind Every Key Message of Bulgaria’s EU Presidency We Have Many Essential Tasks

The Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria presented its activities in support of the upcoming important events in 2018

Lilyana Pavlova, Minister of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, said that there are still many important tasks behind each of the three main messages of the Bulgarian presidency - consensus, competitiveness and cohesion. Minister Pavlova took part in the international conference organized by the Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria, where the key activities of the Association in support of the presidency of Bulgaria in 2018 were presented.

Additionally, Lilyana Pavlova stated that Bulgaria’s EUPresidency should be not only Bulgarian but also Balkan. On the Conference were discussed important topics for Bulgaria's foreign affairs, such as cultural diplomacy, migration and implementation of counter-terrorism measures.

The main activities of the Honorary Consuls aim to develop trade and economic ties, but also to enrich the cultural and science relations between the countries. The Honorary consuls are a valuable diplomatic resource and have become an active instrument of bilateral foreign affairs expansion,” said Borislav Boyanov, President of the Association and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Malta.

Other special guests who participated in the International Conference and shared their professional experience were Solomon Passy – Bulgarian politician and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE. Prof. Grigorios Vassilokonstandakis - Ambassador of Greece to Bulgaria, and HE. Prof. Lino Bianco - Ambassador of Malta to Bulgaria and Romania.
